School and student scoop top prizes at the University of Northampton’s Art & Design Competition

Mia Woods scoops the award for ‘Most Outstanding Submission’, with the school taking home the ‘Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology Prize’

We are delighted to report that we have won big at a prestigious Art & Design competition, scooping up two awards at the showcase awards evening earlier in December. Mia Woods, an alumna of the school and current Fashion Image Making and Styling student of Salford University, scooped the award for the ‘Most Outstanding Submission’, as the school took home the ‘Faculty of Arts, Science and Technology Prize’ at the event organized by the University of Northampton.

The annual ‘Schools & Colleges Art & Design Competition’ recognises talent across Northamptonshire and the East Midlands, and, judging by the submissions exhibited, it is quite clear that Art and Design is thriving as a subject in schools. The competition was fierce, with a huge range of talent on show from many creative and talented students and their dedicated Art staff across the county and beyond.

Mia and the school have been rewarded with a trophy, a certificate and a £500 prize. The Head of our Art & Design department, Mrs Beacroft, was thrilled with the outcome. “We are delighted to be recognised as a school for the support we give our students and to receive the £500 prize and trophy, which will be proudly displayed in school. I would like to acknowledge all our excellent students whose work looked amazing in the new Waterside Campus, and we are immensely proud of everyone who took part”.
