Pupils wow guests with amazing talents at our annual Arts Invitational

Invitational event showcasing students’ work featuring an Opera masterclass amazes audiences.

The world of creative arts is one of endless possibilities. There are many exciting strands and lots of different areas to explore, and this is evidence abound here at Northampton High School. The extensive programme of subjects sees students delve into many stimulating areas of creative study, culminating in an Arts Invitational event in the summer term.

Held on Thursday 27 June, this year’s event has been recognised in the school community as our best yet, as family, friends, members of the public and local dignitaries all gathered together to celebrate the immense talents of our pupils. Artwork created by girls of all ages was on display, ranging from the amazing observational drawings by Reception, to the spectacular A Level pieces created by the Year 13 students, with all ages in between being exhibited in the feature event.

Alongside the breath-taking exhibitions, students continued to impress guests with ‘pop up’ performances, including poetry recitals, ballet shows and drama pieces on what was a glorious summer evening. In one of the nights feature events, pupils collaborated with renowned Soprano, Alison Roddy, to make for a truly memorable performance. Roddy, who recently visited the school to deliver a vocal masterclass for students, entertained a packed auditorium to bring the evening to a close in grand style.

In a night filled with innovation, imagination and flair, our students continue to raise the bar with their unparalleled creativity and exceptional talents. The Invitational, which brings down the curtain on this year’s Arts Festival, will live long in the memory of the many guests who marvelled at the quality on show.
