Celebrations for another year of excellent GCSE results

Students have achieved wonderful GCSE results once again this year with 33% of grades at A* equivalent (grades 8/9)

Northampton High School students have achieved wonderful GCSE results again this year with the total number of 8/9 grades (A* equivalent) at 33% – even better than last year’s impressive total. We are also delighted that 61% of girls gained five or more grade 7-9s (A*/As).

Dr Stringer, Headmistress, commented, ‘This is the day when the girls receive the reward for the hard work and energy they have put into their studies over the last two years and more. Seeing the pleasure on their faces, and those of their families, as they celebrate these excellent results is a great joy for me and my colleagues.

At a time of seismic change in the public exam system, which has led to a much-publicised narrowing-down of breadth and choice for students, our girls have continued to pursue and excel at a broad and ambitious range of subjects; I have been delighted to see them doing themselves proud in creative and practical subjects as well as multiple languages, the humanities and the core, including triple science. From here, they can look ahead with confidence not only to the adventures of Sixth Form, but also the opportunities of life.

That confidence, a hallmark of High School students, is nurtured by the staff whose ambition for each individual girl matches their passion for teaching and learning.

Congratulations to all of the girls on their outstanding results and warmest thanks to all colleagues for their contribution to the girls’ success.’
