Junior School Girls Experience Some International Culture!

Junior School girls had a wonderful time on their action packed Culture Day.

Some girls came in their own cultural dress and they truly celebrated the different cultures of the world. In the morning the girls learnt various different songs from different regions and years 3, 4, 5 and 6 took learnt some Ukrainian dances with Mr Maurice from the Maurice School of Dance.
After lunch the girls got to perform their songs and dances to the rest of the junior school.

They all sang Bobby Shaftoe and then the girls took to the stage to perform the Hopak – a traditional Ukrainian dance. The girls remembered all the complicated steps and were smiling to the audience. Once the girls had all performed, Mr Maurice showed how the male dancers would perform, it was fascinating to see a professional do the dance.

Once the dancing was finished everyone joined together to sing Aulde Lang Syne and even the Nursery girls joined in by linking arms! It was a fun filled day and the girls learnt a great deal about many other traditions and cultures from across the world.
