In our purpose-designed art studios flooded with natural light, creativity and imagination flourish. The girls have the freedom to work with a variety of media and techniques in a wide range of disciplines, from painting and sculpture to photography and textiles. With the emphasis on experimentation and enjoyment, many discover previously unsuspected talents. The result is some quite outstanding work and highly personal responses in a department that is always buzzing with enthusiastic activity.  Art is a popular choice at AS and A level and Sixth Form girls have access to their own work space.  Several girls go on to study Art at university.

Through Design Technology, pupils are encouraged to be outward-looking and develop an awareness of the implications of global and environmental design issues. Using technologically complex tools and machinery and experimenting with a range of materials and components, the girls combine their design and practical skills with a wider understanding to create quality products. This combination of practical skills with aesthetic and ethical values brings idealism into contact with realism and engenders an appreciation of the demands of the world outside the school gates.
