Key Stage 4

The curriculum has been designed to provide a strong foundation for further education and flexibility of future choices. Girls usually take ten GCSEs in total, the compulsory subjects being English and English Literature, Mathematics, a Modern Foreign Language in French, German or Spanish and the three Sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Optional subjects include Art, Classical Civilisation (for those who have studied Classics in Year 9) Computing, Drama, Food, Geography, History, Latin, a second Modern Foreign Language, Music, Physical Education, Philosophy and Ethics, and Textiles. In addition, the curriculum is enhanced by non-examination subjects such as Careers, Core Physical Education, Information Literacy, Life Skills and PSHE.

Strong teaching provision is supported by the school's outstanding facilities and pupils are encouraged to question and think independently. They make use of the extensive Library to help they develop research and evaluation skills and they use digital devices and applications throughout the curriculum. Within this supportive framework of academic guidance and close pastoral care, the girls visibly grow in confidence and look forward to new challenges and responsibilities.
