Key Stage 1

Teaching and Learning in Key Stage One

A broad academic curriculum is taught by class teachers, including French. Other specialist teachers deliver Music, PE & Games and Swimming. Across the curriculum the girls are encouraged to participate at every level and enjoy the adventure of learning. From their earliest years, they are motivated to think independently and make effective use of the excellent resources available here, such as the well-equipped computer suite, interactive whiteboards and our extensive library. Teaching is supported by a full programme of visits, workshops and educational talks.

Teachers work closely with each child, helping them to set learning objectives and encouraging them to develop the confidence to explore concepts, talk about their learning and reflect on their progress. As they grow in confidence, the girls become more fully involved in the life of the school, playing key roles in assemblies, performances, charity events, sports day and out of school activities.
